I'm a former Political Director for a Statewide Local Union, a former City and County Democratic Party strategist, a retired Public worker, 27-year President of my branch of CWA, but most importantly, I am an informed voter.
For over 4 decades, I've been politically involved as a volunteer, then later as a campaign consultant for NJ Gubernatorial and State and Federal candidates. I've been on Gubernatorial Transition teams and authored bills for both State and Federal lawmakers including former Senator Ted Kennedy. I've been asked to testify at State legislative committee hearings and asked to attend and submit my white papers and testimony to the Whitehouse Mental Health Summit in 2000. But all of that pales in comparison to today's slowly unfolding confluence of calamities commonly referred to as "politics."
Indeed, it is no exaggeration when I state that I've witnessed the devolution of American politics into the cesspool it has now become.
I've noticed that it is taking 10lbs of fact to combat 1oz. of lie with this current crop of shameless reality show contestants occupying seats in Congress.
I've named this site, "NuclearPolitix" because I see a minority of explosive extremists on both sides of the aisle, but arguably more on the right than the left, holding the country hostage for the benefit of their solipsistic ideologies. Add to that the indecorous spewing of knowingly false or distorted truths, and mainstream media ignoring or worse, amplifying the messages without fact checking, and you have the perfect storm. It becomes painfully obvious to anyone with a modicum of intellect that we now have the clown act running the circus, and the ringmaster (aka House Speaker Mike Johnson) is a mere figurehead with no real power to control the downward spiral of his once relevant Party.
This is a significant problem because the framers of the Constitution built it incorporating checks and balances between the branches using a two party system to avoid what they described as "mob rule" which they viewed as the single most danger to democracy. Little could they have realized how far the country's values would veer off course.
