On March 4th, 2025, the world was treated to a record breaking 100 miutes of Trump’s revisioned history, exaggerated progress thus far, and his whimsical, fairy taled future for America. 100 minutes was a record on two fronts. It is by far, the longest time taken by any presiident to inform the citizens as to the State of the Union. But it is also the longest amount of time any president has strung together an intricate ribbon of non-stop fabrications of legendary performance, at least in his own mind, and outright lies. The record of prevarication indubitably goes to Trump. There simply is no contest. But I digress. Let’s get into exactly what Mr. Trump has done TO Americans, because he has done nothing FOR them, thus far.
“Farmers for Trump” voted for this. Trump’s tariffs with allies and enemies alike have forced reciprocal tariffs and contract cancellations of vegetables and grain exports just from China alone. This means losses for US farmers of tens of billions of dollars in agriculture sales at a time when they are already struggling due to global warming related issues like droughts, floods, and severe weather. Agricultural exports are usually a $191 Billion sector with more than half of that comprised of Mexico, China and Canada contracts. Thanks to Trump’s tariffs, on just those three (our three largest importers of US goods) it will negatively affect the supplies of over 60% of our fruits, nuts and produce typically imported from Mexico while driving prices at least 20% higher almost immediately. Additionally, 85% of the potash fertilizer imported into the US and used by farmers comes from Canada, which now has a 25% tariff on it, raising the costs for struggling farmers even more. And who benefits from those higher prices and failing farmers?? Well, in a recent report, it was discovered that the ultra-wealthy like Jeff Bezos, Bill Gates, etc. are buying up farmland and forests at a rate that is drawing attention. They are doing so using shell corporations to hide their efforts, but now several of these folks are talking on the record about it. They wait for the farmland to become distressed and then buy it cheaply. Why wait for it to gradually become distressed when you have a rich buddy in the Whitehouse who can speed up the process. Currently, the richest 100 people in the US own nearly 2% of all available land, roughly the size of Florida and Connecticut together. They know it is a limited commodity. There is no more land to be made, so if you have it, it will only go up in value over time. 20 years ago, the average midwestern farm sold for almost $1350 per acre. Today it goes for nearly $3200 per acre and will only go up. These folks now LEASE or rent the land to farmers so that they get a tax break and federal subsidy which gives them even more taxpayer provided wealth.
Poor and elderly voted for Trump and Republican lawmakers. Here is what they got for their vote: 401k’s are drastically shrinking as the stock market has plummeted, Medicare and Medicaid are both targeted in the GOP’s recently passed budget, and DOGE’s Elon Musk has made it a point to call Social Security a Ponzi scheme and is eyeballing it for the next round of cuts falsely claiming that millions are receiving benefits who are 150, 200 and 300 years old. This is completely impossible since the Social Security Administration has LONG had a failsafe on their system that shuts off payments to anyone over the age of 115 until they physically come in and show their birth records and prove they are actually still alive. It’s a lie…an outright, boldfaced lie that their supporters are eager to accept as truth despite the obvious facts to the contrary. Trump wants to reduce or eliminate income tax. But what he has failed to explain is that 4% of income taxes go towards paying current social security recipients. If that funding source is eliminated, the social security trust fund will run out of money by 2030. Once that happens, the benefits of ALL recipients will automatically be reduced by 24% to 31%. If you are receiving the average $1,977 a month check from Social Security, your new rate in 5 years (maybe 6, depending on when the Trust Fund runs out) will be $1,503 – $1,364 a month, while the cost of a car is jumping $4,000 due to tariffs, Groceries are rising 20% for the same reason, and your income will be cut by $500 – $600 a month or even more if you make more than the average $1,977 a month benefit.. Thank your President and the GOP you elected today for your future poverty tomorrow! And YOU voted for this. Just ask them. They keep saying they received a “mandate” from the voters to do this.
Blacks and Latinos voted for Trump and he decimated DEI, affirmative action, black history, and promoted white supremacists into his Whitehouse Advisors pool and key Whitehouse senior staff positions. Instead of helping black, Latino and impoverished Americans, Trump immediately dismantled the Whitehouse staff working on the “Justice 40” project initiated by Joe Biden which ran for all 4 years under Biden’s term. In short, the program required that 40% of certain benefits from environmental programs to be used to clean up environmental sites that posed significant health concerns to hard it polluted areas, typically comprised of black, Latino and/or poor families. That program is now gone and Trump has condemned those people to a life of cancer and other health issues, or simply death. This is what they voted for.
This is the reality of the phrase: “Elections have consequences.”
While the billionaires are lining up at the Whitehouse doors getting their pockets stuffed with taxpayer dollars, like Elon Musk who is making $8 Million each DAY while looking to cut benefits for a senior making $1,977 a MONTH, Trump supporters lay back in their recliners thinking it won’t be hurting them. Laying off TENS of thousands of public workers in key government Departments are a “you” problem, not a “me” problem, according to them…until you realize that for every 1 laid off public worker, there will be a corresponding layoff of 1.4 people in the private sector…. and the people getting laid off are the same ones getting your social security checks deposited into your account, or getting your income tax refund sent back to you in three weeks not 3 months, or setting up your VA medical/hospital services for you… not so much a “you” problem for them anymore, is it? Just keep grinning and thinking it’s someone else’s problem. All of us, no matter what parry you belong to, all of us will be adversely affected by Trump and his stupidity and that of his bootlickers. If not today, then tomorrow, or maybe next week…but make no mistake, we are ALL in for a rude awakening that they literally published years in advance for anyone to read.
