BIG OIL’S BIG PLAN WITH PROJECT 2025 & THE CHRISTIAN RIGHT’S THEOCRACY PLAN
With each passing Supreme Court decision upending decades of precedent setting cases and resetting the societal clock to the 1950’s, and even before in some instances, the seemingly disconnected decisions have one common thread. They have been bought and paid for by Big Oil and the ultra rich and in keeping with their Project 2025 framework by providing the enabling decisions to usher in the goals of the Heritage Foundation and the Christian Right of the Ziklag group.
Take, for example, abortion. In 1973, the Supreme Court decided, in what was a landmark decision of the time, that women had a right to privacy and the liberty to have an abortion. In doing so, Roe v. Wade, 410 U.S. 113 The relied on the 14th Amendment’s Due process and equal protection clause to protect a woman’s medical privacy. Fast forward to the 2023 Supreme Court decision that reversed the half century precedent and in fact, facilitated Project 2025’s anti-abortion goals with the Dobbs decision. In overturning Roe v. Wade after 50 years of protected abortion access, Justice Samuel Alito summarily declared that the 14th Amendment’s Equal Protection Clause could no longer protect women’s medical privacy, because the Supreme Court previously determined “that a State’s regulation of abortion is not a sex-based classification.” After Roe deemed abortion access a “liberty” protected by the Due Process and Equal Protection Clause of the Fourteenth Amendment, Alito and his Catholic colleagues ruled that “classification precedent” and ancient common law history were more important.
Next was the hit on bribery. SCOTUS implemented Project 2025’s deference to a strong (and crooked) chief executive in Snyder v. the United States. Republicans on the Supreme Court declared in Snyder that bribing an elected official isn’t bribery if it’s paid to the official after the fact, because then it’s really more of a “gratuity.” Despite (because of?) two justices facing backlash for accepting lavish gifts from donors with cases before the Supreme Court, the majority in Snyder weakened the federal anti-corruption statute, 18 U.S. Code § 666, which made it a crime for officials to corruptly solicit, accept or agree to accept “anything of value intending to be influenced or rewarded in connection with” any business or transaction worth $5,000 or more.
Of course, Big Oil cannot drill for oil on protected lands or sea beds with current regulatory oversight so guess what the Supreme Court did to help out Project 2025’s agenda and their Big Oil donors… they weakened federal regulations: The Supreme Court continued implementing Project 2025’s goal of killing the administrative state and stopping “the war on oil and gas” in Loper Bright Enterprises vs. Raimondo. In Loper, Republicans on the Court overturned the well-established Chevron doctrine, the law of administrative agencies for the last 40 years, ruling outrageously that judges should not rely on federal experts’ scientific or medical expertise, but should rely instead on their own personal opinion, bias and scientific ignorance in interpreting statutory ambiguities. This ruling, coupled with other recent cases eviscerating the regulatory power of the EPA, will cripple climate initiatives in service to Project 2025 donors for years to come if this rogue court is not stopped.
And let’s not forget the Ziklag group of the Christian Right ultra-rich, like the owners of companies like Uline Office supplies (the Uihlein family), Hobby Lobby (the Green family), and the Jockey garment company (the Waller family) The Supreme Court helped them advance their Christian theocracy agenda of Christian nationalism with the decision in 303 Creative LLC and Kennedy v. Bremerton School District. In 303 Creative, the conservative majority designated the right to refuse to do business with gay people not as discriminatory conduct but as “free speech,” and held that requiring web designers to serve same sex couples was “coercing” them to make “statements” with which their Christian religion disagreed.
In furtherance of the Christian nationalism, the Supreme Court AGAIN handed the Christian right a win in the anti-1st Amendment decision, Kennedy. The Supreme Injustices ruled that a football coach was permitted to lead his team in prayer on a public school football field despite Establishment Clause precedent dating back to the 1940s. Until Kennedy, the Constitution, precedent, and the courts in general held that school prayer brought coercive pressure on the atheist, Jewish, Muslim and other non-Christian students to either pray along or be ostracized and as such, violated the 1st Amendment; however, in both 303 Creative and Kennedy, Trump’s appointed extremist Justices distorted the 1st Amendment’s shield – freedom of religion – into a sword: the Christian right’s freedom to impose their religion on others.
Both Project 2025 AND the Ziklag group are orchestrating an overthrow of Democracy. The benefactors of which are the ultra-rich and predominantly BIG OIL for Project 2025 and the Christian Right for the Ziklag group. In order to do so, they spew falsehoods and disinformation and win support of the people by speaking to their fears and animosities, normalizing hate and fostering civil unrest, just as was done in EVERY fascist regime’s overthrow of democratic governments throughout modern history.
